“One Tribe, one time, one planet, one race
It’s all one blood, don’t care about your face
The color of your eye or the tone of your skin
Don’t care where ya are
Don’t care where ya been
‘Cause where we gonna go
Is where we wanna be
The place where the native language is Unity
And the continent is called Pangaea
And the main ideas are connected like a sphere
No propaganda, They tried to upper hand us
‘Cause man I’m loving this…peace”

Tonight I don’t feel that way, though. I am exhausted. I’m not sure why I thought this project was a good idea. I hate to be negative Nancy, but this is taking up all my time and energy and I’m not sure it’s worth it.
I had a few other things going on at the end of last week so I put off painting and now it’s catching up with me. I’ve done 4 paintings in the past 2 days and I’m burnt out!
Maybe if I go to bed now, I’ll feel better tomorrow.
I want to thank everyone in my life for putting up with me and my crazy ideas.
Goodnight.Read More »
“There’s no combination of words
I could put on the back of a postcard
No song that I could sing
But I can try for your heart,
our dreams, and they are made out of real things
like a shoebox of photographs
with sepia-toned loving
Love is the answer
at least for most of the questions in my heart, like
Why are we here? And where do we go?
And how come it’s so hard?
It’s not always easy and
sometimes life can be deceiving
I’ll tell you one thing, it’s always better when we’re together”

I think butterflies are pretty and I like these colors, so, there you go!
I’m really digging the textured backgrounds and bold brushstrokes lately.
Off to paint some more!Read More »
Well, I was inspired the other night by the MTV show, “The Buried Life”. It’s about a group of guys traveling around in a big bus trying to cross things off their “100 things to do before you die” list. For everything they cross off their list, they help someone else cross something off theirs. I thought the concept was really interesting and exciting. Why not, right? The guys even inspired me to learn how to krump…google it!
After seeing the show, the song “Life is a Highway” by Tom Cochrane came into my head and I went with it. I like the lyrics and thought it was a perfect fit for this painting.
“Life’s like a road that you travel on
When there’s one day here and the next day gone
Sometimes you bend sometimes you stand
Sometimes you turn your back to the wind
There’s a world outside every darkened door
Where blues won’t haunt you anymore
Where the brave are free and lovers soar
Come ride with me to the distant shore”

Instead of writing about this portrait of paradise, I’m going to go make a pizza for dinner and worry about this later.
Hope you enjoy the painting and the snow we had last night and today, definitely a first for Myrtle Beach!
Ok, here we go…
This painting is from a photo I took of Airlie Beach. The town was located on the northeast coast of Australia and along the Great Barrier Reef and Whitsunday Islands. The area is known for snorkeling, scuba, boating and other aquatic activities. With that in mind and a strong recommendation from my brother and dad, Mike and I decided to go on a sailing trip.
The ocean was so rough that we thought we might die at sea. Instead of leisurely sunbathing on the boat deck we were bundled up in long pants and jackets, hanging on for dear life! Needless to say, it was an adventure. At night the captain’s idea of a good time was to organize games for the passengers that required a snorkel full of beer or spoonful of Vegemite (beer residue spread) if you lost. We did have good weather the one day as we explored some of the islands. We hiked and took photos of the local flora and fauna and caught some rays on the beach. With a wide array of colors and sea life, the snorkeling wasn’t too shabby either!Read More »
I’m all for a romantic evening with your significant other but society’s expectations of chocolate, flowers, and diamonds is a little ridiculous. Those things are great, but aren’t necessary to show your love.
These lovebirds are symbolic of true love.

I like trying new things, so here’s an abstract painting with an abstract idea behind it. The colors intertwine and progress from dark to light, which represents the connections between all of us and life’s ever changing stages.
I think non-representational art leaves way more to the imagination and sometimes you want the viewer to work a little harder to “see” it.
