I want to paint 50 paintings in 50 days in order to gain skill, seek God, and really take hold of the world around me. In the past some of my muses have been people, places, music, and memories. I want the next 50 days to be like an artist’s diary. I don’t want to limit myself to anything. If I’m feeling down, I might paint something dark and that’s ok (even though it won’t look like my normal stuff). Through this journey I want to be open to ideas from you guys. I would love to hear comments or thoughts as well as stories about something that’s worth painting about, happy or sad. Recently, a devastating event happened in Haiti and I was wrecked by some of the footage and photography that I saw, so I want the first painting to be devoted to the hope I have in Haiti’s reconstruction. Some of the paintings might just look like a pretty picture, but sometimes that’s all you need to brighten your day and see the world illuminated rather than in shadow.
Oh yeah, I have to give credit to “Julie and Julia” the movie, given to us as a Christmas gift, which came highly recommended by my family. I’m a sucker for the predictable, motivational, feel good movie and this one just happened to be based on a true story; even better. So, I was definitely influenced by the movie to get my butt moving and see what can happen when I have faith that something greater will come from this.
Sybil,
I have to admit I am extremely inspired and a bit envious of your goal to paint 50 paintings in 50 days. I also love the idea of your painting being a diary and a form of expressing life’s hardships and joys visually. Have you thought about painting a picture that represents America gaining strength again from the recession? Is that too abstract? Paint on!
I think you should start painting again, I would love to see your stuff! I like the idea of hope for America, I could work with that!
I still can’t get over the fact that you are almost finished painting your 50 paintings in 50 days! To have such insight and talent and to finish what you started is amazing. I have trouble just trying to clean the kitchen without being sidetracked! haha ! You are an inspiration to all of us!
